Haitian kids with heart conditions to receive life-saving surgery from Bronx surgeons at Montefiore

Three-year-old Kensley Gerome is not allowed to run and play like other little boys his age, due to a heart condition that restricts blood flow in his body.

Dorisca Robens, 12, also must sit on the sidelines when his friends play soccer, because of a heart ailment.

All that is about to change.

The two boys from Haiti will undergo crucial surgeries at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Doctors will operate on Kensley today, and Dorisca will have his surgery tomorrow.

The life-saving effort is the work of Surgeons of Hope, a humanitarian medical group that provides pediatric surgeries and training to doctors in impoverished countries worldwide.
