SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN HAITI’S IDP CAMPS: RESULTS OF A HOUSEHOLD SURVEY March 2011

Lest we forget about the tent camps in Haiti, the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ) at NYU School of Law conducted a survey in 4 IDP households and found an alarming statistic; 14% of households reported that 1 or more members of their family has been a victim of sexual violence. Issues like this need to be addressed by the Presidential candidates. The Haitian homeless and their plight are a key issue in addressing the rebuild of the Haitian infrastructure. I’m curious to see how much media attention this report garners in the mainstream.
